История создания

Майкл начал писать “Earth Song” ещё в конце 1980-х годов — примерно во времена альбома Bad.
Он говорил, что идея пришла к нему после многочисленных поездок по миру, где он видел разрушенные леса, голод, войны и страдания животных.
Его глубоко потрясло, как человечество обращается с Землёй — и он захотел создать не просто песню, а молитву за планету.

Работа над песней длилась несколько лет. В ней сочетаются элементы госпела, симфонической музыки и рока, а также мощные эмоции Майкла, почти крик души за весь мир.
